A few of my favorite insect images from a workshop I attended Memorial Day weekend in Mackinaw City. It is amazing how still bugs are when it is only 40 degrees outside! My Dad and I both had a great time learning from Steve Gettle. My next post will be some of my favorite wildflower shots from the workshop.

Look what we found in our front yard when we went for a walk today… morel mushrooms! The walk had to be put on hold so that I could take a few pictures. We found some morels in our yard a few years ago, but this is the most that we have ever had in a single year. We hope that our neighbors enjoy eating them (minus the one that I stepped on).

I like shooting sunflowers and usually search out a bunch of them together in a field.  This time, I decided to shoot an individual one and focus on some closeup shots.  I visited the Meridian Farmers’ Market in Okemos last Saturday and picked up this flower from a local farmer.  I shot a series of shots using my macro lens and this one is the best combination of lighting and composition.
